BMO Asset Management Inc. has a history of investing on behalf of Canadians that dates back to 1925 and boasts almost three decades of successful institutional investment. The firm was established in 1982 as RMN Investment Counsel Inc., and was acquired by Burns Fry Limited in 1991. As a result of the Burns Fry merger with Nesbitt Thomson in 1994, the firm became part of the BMO Financial Group. Previously operating under the name Jones Heward Investment Counsel Inc., the company was renamed BMO Asset Management Inc. in May 2010 following amalgamation with the BMO Exchange Traded Funds and Quantitative Investments groups. The merger resulted in a diversified investment platform with distinct skills and expertise that continues to allow us to develop customizable, turn-key solutions for our clients based on their diverse investment needs and risk preferences.
